Do not diagnose the person in the ad
Healthcare creative often fails when it implies that Meta knows a viewer has a condition, insecurity or medical history. Write about the service and the decision—not an assumed personal attribute.
- Prefer “Explore treatment options” to “Are you suffering from…?”
- Avoid copy that identifies a condition, age-related insecurity or body concern
- Review the image, headline, form and landing page as one message
Separate treatment marketing from drug promotion
Clinics may advertise services that are legal in the target market, but prescription medicines and drug-related claims can trigger additional restrictions. The ad, landing page and booking flow should describe the consultation accurately and avoid presenting a prescription-only product as a consumer offer.
- Check whether the named product is prescription-only in the target country
- Use clinician-led consultation language where appropriate
- Never imply guaranteed eligibility, safety or clinical outcomes
Use proof without manufacturing certainty
Before-and-after imagery, testimonials and numeric outcomes need careful treatment. The creative should not exaggerate expected results, create negative self-perception or imply that an exceptional result is typical.
- Keep image conditions comparable and avoid retouching treatment areas
- Qualify individual results and preserve verifiable consent records
- Do not turn a testimonial into an unsupported clinical claim
Make the landing page pass the same test
A compliant ad can still fail when its destination introduces prohibited claims, unclear provider credentials or a different offer. Keep the service, location, practitioner, price framing and next step consistent from ad to page.
- Show the provider and material treatment information clearly
- Use a consultation or eligibility step when the service requires one
- Keep privacy, cookie and contact information easy to find
Treat health data and measurement as sensitive
Lead tracking should measure enquiries without sending diagnoses, treatment details or other sensitive health information in URLs, event names or audience payloads. Audit forms, pixels, server-side events and CRM integrations together.
- Use neutral event names and minimise payload data
- Do not build audiences from sensitive health information
- Document consent, access and retention decisions with the clinic
Overlay the rules of the target market
Meta approval is not the same as legal approval. The US, UK and European markets apply different requirements to medical claims, prescription-only medicines, cosmetic interventions, testimonials and targeting. Campaign review must be market-specific.
